
Leona Louise Lewis was born on the 3rd of April 1985, is an actor an activist, singer and actress born in Britain. Born and raised in Islington, a part of the London Borough of Islington, she went to the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology located in Croydon. Lewis became a household name after winning The X Factor's third series in 2006. Also, she was awarded an PS1 Million recording contract from Syco Music. Her winner's single, which was a cover to Kelly Clarkson's "A Moment like This" which peaked at the top of the charts, reached #1 for 4 weeks on the UK Singles Chart and broke an all-time record of 50,000 digital downloads within 30 minutes. In February 2007, Lewis signed a five-album contract in the United States with Clive Davis's record label, J Records. The artist's popularity grew with the album release of her first album of her own, Spirit (2007), that was certified platinum 10x in the UK and became the fourth top-selling album in the decade and among the most popular albums sold in UK chart history. Spirit is, as per Official Charts Company is the greatest-selling debut album by a female singer. The album's first single "Bleeding Love" was a hit for seven weeks at the top of the UK charts, was the most-sold single in the year 2007. It also was the biggest-selling song in the US in the year. Lewis won the Billboard Best New Artist Award subsequent year. In 2009, she dropped her second studio album Echo, and recorded the song that served as the soundtrack, "I See You" to be used in the film Avatar. In the year 2011, Lewis released the single "Collide" in collaboration with Swedish DJ Avicii and also her first extended work, Hurt: The EP. Her third studio album, Glassheart (2012), marked a new creative direction for Lewis who draws the inspiration of dubstep and electronic music. Her Glassheart Tour was in the beginning of 2013 when she started recording material to create her first Christmas album. The album Christmas, With Love came out in the latter half of 2013. The lead track, One More Sleep, peaked at number 3 within the UK. The chart's top position made Lewis her the only British woman solo artist in the top fivespot, with eight singles. Lewis also beat the record of Olivia Newton-John's seven.
